    Location of Mahogany Springs Lodge

    Set back on the pristine waters of the Munyanga River, facing the impenetrable forest, the natural setting of Mahogany Springs is beyond imagination.

    The exotic gardens and intricately designed stone pathways leading to the river invite you to explore every corner of this magical place. So, you will uncover the various surprises along the way such as the home grown vegetable garden.

    Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is situated in the Virunga Volcanoes mountain range, located in southwestern Uganda on the edge of the western rift valley. It is one of the most biologically diverse areas on earth, where over half the world’s population of highly endangered mountain gorillas live in its jungles.

    Bwindi provides habitat for some 120 species of mammals, 348 species of birds, 220 species of butterflies, 27 species of frogs, chameleons, geckos and many endangered species. Floristically, Bwindi is amongst the most diverse forests in East Africa, with more than 1,000 flowering plant species including 163 species of trees and 104 species of ferns.

    Accommodation at Mahogany Springs Lodge

    Main Building

    Once you enter the main building you will experience a marvel of expert interior design work throughout intertwined with spaciousness and very high levels of comfort. There are a number of awe-inspiring features within the main building.

    One of the most popular features is the huge panoramic terrace that stretches around the front of the building, providing a balance between the sounds of the river and the views of the forest. So, enjoy a leisurely breakfast on the terrace or just sit here all day soaking up the views.

    There is an impressive intricately designed bar with a great selection of wines and beverages. So, guests love to relax in this living room area that also has a double-sided fireplace, book/DVD library (with portable DVD players) and board games.

    Superior Suites

    The superior suites can be twin, double or triple. These suites are spacious with large double doors and beautiful windows. Each suite has its own private exquisitely designed terrace with panoramic views of the surrounding area.

    There are power points in the rooms as well as a dressing table/desk. All suites have large en-suite bathrooms with a gorgeously designed open terracotta shower. For added comfort and peace of mind all the suites have an advanced mosquito net system that wraps around the entire area of the beds.

    The Presidential/Family Suite

    There is absolute privacy mixed with complete spaciousness in the Presidential Suite. This can be arranged in either twin, double, triple or quadruple. With two bedrooms, two en-suite bathrooms, spacious living room and a large private terrace that overlooks the river and the forest, this suite is designed for guests seeking the very best.

    There are power points in the living room and bedrooms as well as two reading desks and dressing tables. There is also an advanced Honeymoon Suite.

    The Huffington Post named Uganda number 2 of the ‘most unforgettable honeymoon destinations’ in 2016. The Post picked Mahogany Springs as the recommended safari lodge for gorilla tracking in Uganda. As a result, the lodge quickly decided to add a The Honeymoon Suite which opened in July 2016. The room has the same design and features as the Superior Suites with some added extras including a larger bed and a bathtub in addition to the shower.

    How to get to Mahogany Springs Lodge

    There are two options to reach Mahogany Springs right from Entebbe or Kampala.

    You can fly directly to Kihihi airstrip with Aerolink from Entebbe International Airport. Flight time is around 1 hour, subject to all matters normal. When you land at Kihihi airstrip the lodge van will be waiting for your transfer to the lodge. Transfer time is about 90 mins).

    You can also choose to drive from Entebbe or Kampala. This can take between 8 – 9 hours depending on road and weather conditions. To avoid exhaustion, it is recommended that you split the journey over a span of two days, so you can stay with the lodge as part of a longer itinerary with various stops around Uganda.
