    Gorilla tracking rules & regulations

    • Gorilla tracking is allowed from a minimum age of 15 years and above.
    • A maximum number of 8 visitors per group is required. This minimizes behavioral disturbance to the gorillas and the risk of exposure to human-borne diseases.
    • If you have a cold, flu or other contagious disease, you should not visit the gorillas.
    • To minimize transfer of human pathogens visitors are required to maintain at least a 7-meters distance from the gorillas.
    • The actual time of the visit is limited to 1 hour, except when you got for a gorilla habituation experience.
    • Always keep your voices low, because you will also be able to observe the great bird life and other wildlife in the forest.
    • If you cough, hold your hand to your mouth and turn away from the gorillas.
    • Try not to make sudden, impromptu movements.
    • If a gorilla charges against you, you’re advised not to fear but stand still, look away from the gorilla and carefully follow the instructions from the guide.
    • Spitting within the park is absolutely forbidden.
    • DO NOT leave rubbish in the park. Whatever you bring into the forest on your gorilla safari should be carried back with you.
    • Always wash your hands before and after going for a gorilla trekking expedition.
