It’s no secret that Bwindi is home to almost half the world’s surviving population of mountain gorillas. The park was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in1994 because it shelters one of the country’s oldest and most biodiverse rainforests believed to be dating to more than 25,000 years.

    Bwindi shelters more than 400 flora, and 120 mammals. These mammals include; mountain gorillas, olive baboons, chimpanzees, elephants, bushbucks, leopards, and duikers among others. As far as avian diversity is concerned, the park is a haven for over 350 bird species. These include more than 23 species of birds that are endemic to the Albertine Rift Valley.
