The lodge’s spacious site lies above Buhoma village, and in a 5-minute drive from the main road. This is in an elevated location which guarantees best views across Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, one of the homes for mountain gorillas in Uganda.

The Buhoma Community Haven Lodge has got the most amazing views of the rain forest from its terraces. It’s location is close to the point where you will begin your gorilla tracking activity.

We currently offer 6 beautifully designed twin or double cottages and 1 family cottage. All these are self-contained, while merging simple elegance with local materials.

This haven lodge was constructed with support from people of America (USADF).

Food at the Buhoma Community Haven Lodge

At Buhoma Community Haven Lodge we serve 5-course meals blending Western and African cuisine, and prepared by Ugandan chefs using locally grown products. Our set meals would, for example, consist of an egg soufflé, soup au Pistou, lamb nansama mint sauce with Swedish potatoes. Don’t miss the lentil dhal with rice and chapati, boiled spinach and strawberries tart.

Your breakfast at the lodge will be cereals, fresh fruits and toast accompanied by your choice of prepared eggs (scrambled, fried, boiled, poached or omelet), along with coffee/tea and juice. For visitors who are going on a gorilla tracking safari, we will pack for you a sandwich (egg, tomato and cheese, peanut butter/jelly, tomato, or cheese). You may also take a piece of chicken, packed juice, an apple, a boiled egg, and biscuits.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park has the greatest population to over 459 mountain gorillas. These live in 50 families and about 13 solitary individuals since the census that was carried out in 2018.
